Job Summary

The Leasing Consultant is the primary point of contact for prospective residents. Your goal is to showcase the community convert leads into signed leases and provide excellent service to current residents to ensure high retention rates. This is a high-energy sales-driven "onsite" role.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Marketing:

Respond to inquiries (phone email and walk-ins) promptly and professionally.

Conduct personalized tours of the property including apartment units amenities (gyms pools lounges) and grounds.

Highlight unique property features to "close" the lease.

Update online listings (Craigslist social media) to drive traffic.

Administrative & Leasing:

Process rental applications including running background/credit checks and verifying income.

Prepare and execute lease agreements and move-in paperwork in compliance with Fair Housing laws.

Ensure units are "move-in ready" by inspecting them before a new tenant arrives.

Resident Relations:

Act as a liaison between residents and maintenance staff for service requests.

Assist with resident renewals and lease extensions.

Coordinate community events (e.g. holiday parties resident mixers) to build a sense of community.


Requirements

Experience: Usually 1 years in sales hospitality or retail. (Direct property management experience is a plus but often not required).

Communication: Strong verbal and written skills; ability to build rapport quickly.

Technical: Proficiency in property management software. Common systems used by firms like Metro include Yardi AppFolio or Buildium.

Availability: Must be willing to work weekends as that is when most prospective tenants are available to tour.

Legal Knowledge: Basic understanding of Fair Housing Laws (training is usually provided).
