Job Summary

Position type: Full time exempt 11 Month    

Reporting & Collaboration

  • Direct Manager: Assistant School Leader or School Leader.

  • Direct Reports: None

  • Key Collaborators: Teachers school leadership team members and regional academic partners.

Autonomy & Decision Making

  • The Instructional Coach leads coaching cycles and instructional support for assigned teachers. The coach supports teacher growth through observation modeling and feedback but does not evaluate teacher performance.

  • Final evaluation decisions remain with the School Leader or Assistant School Leader.

Inputs: What will I be doing in my day to day work

Instructional Coaching

  • Conduct regular classroom observations and provide actionable feedback.

  • Lead coaching cycles including goal-setting modeling and follow-up.

  • Support teachers with lesson planning pacing and differentiation.

  • Model effective instructional strategies on a weekly basis.

Data-Driven Instruction

  • Support teachers in analyzing student work and assessment data.

  • Facilitate data discussions to improve instructional decisions.

  • Monitor student progress and adjust coaching strategies accordingly.

Professional Learning Support

  • Support professional learning aligned to school priorities.

  • Reinforce instructional expectations and best practices.

  • Collaborate with leadership to align coaching with school improvement goals.

Collaboration & School Leadership

  • Partner with school leadership to identify instructional priorities.

  • Support grade-level and content teams in strengthening instruction.

  • Contribute to schoolwide instructional improvement efforts.

  • Growth in instructional quality across coached classrooms.

  • Evidence of teacher development through coaching cycles.

  • Improved student achievement and academic growth.

  • Strong alignment between coaching and school instructional priorities.

What skills should I already bring i.e. what should I already have a track record around

  • Strong instructional expertise and classroom practice.

  • Ability to observe instruction and provide actionable feedback.

  • Strong facilitation and adult learning skills.

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.

  • Formal training or certification in a research-based coaching framework

What should I know a lot about already i.e. what should I have expertise in

  • Curriculum implementation and lesson design.

  • Data-driven instruction and assessment analysis.

  • Coaching strategies and adult learning theory.

  • Effective classroom management and instructional strategies.


Qualifications :

What you bring to the table:

Required

  • 2 years of successful classroom teaching experience with strong student achievement results

  • Demonstrated impact on student outcomes and instructional practice

  • Strong instructional practice and content knowledge

  • Ability to coach teachers using data and student work

  • Bachelors Degree in education or related field

  • Facilitation skills for adult learning

  • Formal training in coaching frameworks or adult learning

  • State teaching certification in a content area

Preferred

  • Prior coaching or mentor experience

  • Record of driving results in a K-12 educational environment

  • Masters Degree in a content area curriculum or reading specialist
