Job Summary

Contract Type: Full-time

We are seeking a motivated enthusiastic and dedicated Year 4 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southend. This is an excellent opportunity for a Key Stage 2 practitioner to inspire pupils as they develop independence resilience and confidence in their learning during Upper Key Stage 2.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 4 class and deliver high-quality teaching across the National Curriculum. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons in literacy numeracy and the wider curriculum creating a classroom environment that encourages curiosity collaboration and a love of learning.

Assessment and tracking of progress will be central to your practice. You will monitor pupils achievements identify next steps and provide targeted support to ensure all pupils including those with SEND or EAL make strong progress. Differentiation will be used effectively to meet individual learning needs.

You will work collaboratively with teaching assistants and Upper Key Stage 2 colleagues to ensure continuity and consistency across the year group. Strong communication with parents and carers is valued and you will be encouraged to build positive partnerships to support pupils academic and personal development.

This role is suitable for Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners. ECTs will benefit from a structured induction and mentoring programme while experienced teachers will have opportunities to share expertise and contribute to school-wide initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons across the Year 4 curriculum

  • Create a positive inclusive and well-managed classroom

  • Track and assess pupil progress and provide targeted interventions

  • Support pupils academic social and emotional development

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents

  • Promote high standards of behaviour and learning

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2

  • Strong knowledge of curriculum and assessment strategies

  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • Commitment to safeguarding and professional development
