Tax and Compliance Officer

Reports To: Finance Manager
Location: Lagos Nigeria
Job Overview
The Tax & Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring full compliance with local tax laws statutory regulations and corporate governance requirements. This role supports the organization in managing tax filings regulatory submissions audits and compliance processes while minimizing financial and legal risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all local tax regulations including corporate tax VAT withholding tax and statutory filings.
Prepare review and submit tax returns and regulatory reports in line with local requirements and deadlines.
Liaise with tax authorities auditors and external consultants on tax and compliance matters.
Monitor changes in tax laws and regulatory frameworks and assess their impact on the business.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
Ensure adherence to internal financial controls policies and compliance procedures.
Assist in tax planning initiatives to optimize tax efficiency while remaining compliant.
Maintain accurate and organized records related to tax and compliance activities.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Taxation or a related field.
3 years of experience in tax compliance or audit roles.
Strong knowledge of local tax laws regulations and statutory requirements.
Experience working with tax authorities and external auditors.
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
