Job Summary

In partnership with our client we are seeking a Plant and Equipment Manager who understands that in construction the right equipment in the right place at the right time makes all the difference. This is a role for someone who knows heavy machinery inside out from bulldozers and excavators to cranes and graders and who takes pride in keeping equipment running efficiently so projects stay on track. You are an experienced plant and equipment professional with a strong background in construction equipment management.
You are operationally minded with a sharp ability to schedule deploy and track equipment across multiple project sites.
You are proactive about maintenance ensuring machinery is always serviced functional and ready for deployment.
You are a strong people manager able to oversee operators and equipment technicians with clarity and accountability.
You are commercially aware able to make informed decisions around equipment acquisition and leasing to optimise costs.
You are highly organised with the ability to manage equipment utilisation data and minimise costly downtime.

Your Responsibilities

Equipment Operations

You will schedule equipment deployment across project sites to ensure the right machinery is available at the right time.
You will track equipment utilisation and downtime identifying patterns and implementing measures to improve efficiency.
You will plan equipment acquisition or leasing based on project needs and cost considerations.

Maintenance and Servicing

You will ensure all machinery and plant equipment is regularly maintained and serviced to the highest standards.
You will put in place proactive maintenance schedules that minimise breakdowns and project disruptions.

People Management

You will manage and oversee equipment operators and technicians ensuring they perform to the required standards.
You will foster a culture of accountability safety and operational excellence within your team.

What Success looks like

Equipment is deployed efficiently across all project sites with minimal delays or scheduling conflicts.
Machinery downtime is consistently reduced through proactive maintenance and servicing schedules.
Equipment utilisation is tracked accurately with data used to drive better operational decisions.
Equipment acquisition and leasing decisions are cost-effective and aligned with project requirements.
Operators and technicians are well managed performing to standard and contributing to smooth project delivery.

To be considered for this role you should have

A relevant degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering Construction Management or a related field.
A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in plant and equipment management within a top construction firm.
Strong knowledge of heavy construction equipment including bulldozers excavators cranes and graders.
Experience managing equipment maintenance servicing and utilisation tracking.
Ability to manage operators and technicians effectively.
Strong organisational and decision-making skills.
