Salary Range: $92151.00 $115189.00 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits where applicable)

Hiring Range: $92151.00 $103670.00 per annum

Location: Peel Manor Long Term Care Home (525 Main Street North Brampton)

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week Monday - Friday. Weekend rotation required.

This role will be accountable for for directing planning organizing and overseeing the daily activities of the Nutrition and Food Services Department to ensure the nutrition needs of each resident at the Long Term Care Centre and also the community it serves.

In addition this role includes the management of food service provided for Community Support Services including the Adult Day Service Respite Clients and the Meals on Wheels program as applicable.

What you will do in this role:

  • Supervise and manage nutrition and food services for the Long Term Care Centre including meal preparation and service for residents.
  • Support community programs such as Adult Day Services Respite Bed Meals on Wheels and catering functions.
  • Oversee material resources including food supplies and equipment for the Centre.
  • Monitor and administer quality and risk management programs to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Ensure adherence to legislated standards and strategic plans for food services.
  • Oversee daily food production meal counts and food quality providing guidance to staff as needed.
  • Provide direct supervision and guidance to food services staff to maintain efficient operations.
  • Respond to inquiries from residents and families regarding dietary needs and ensure proper diets are provided.
  • Assist with procurement of goods and services within approved budgets.
  • Act as designate for the Dietary Supervisor when required.

What the role requires:

  • Graduation from an approved Food Service and Nutrition Management program.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a unionized health care setting.
  • Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management and Ontario Society of Nutrition Management.
  • 25 years experience in a Geriatric and/or Long Term Care Facility.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation and standards (Food Premises Act LTC Act MOHLTC Standards OH&S Act WHMIS HACCP).
  • Vulnerable Sector Check.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage a large diverse team.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets.
  • Expertise in food preparation systems and processes.
  • Familiarity with infection prevention and control practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Organizational and administrative skills to prioritize work in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to train and motivate staff in a unionized setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and monitoring operations.
  • Knowledge of and PointClickCare software.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity equity and inclusion through continuous development modeling inclusive behaviors and proactively managing bias.

Nice to have:

  • Previous Long Term Care or Geriatric experience.
