THE POSITION: STACK is looking for a Payroll Manager to supervise and coordinate payroll processing operations across multiple states in the US and in Canada. This detailed-oriented and analytical role works closely across our People & Culture and Accounting teams to support accurate and timely processing and reporting of all payroll data. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in understanding multi-state payroll and payroll tax requirements understanding of systems and analytics to run and interpret reports and the ability to work well across teams to solve discrepancies and review data. Responsibilities for this role include: - Manage end-to-end payroll processing in compliance with federal state and local laws labor laws and industry regulations
- Oversee processing of multi-state/province U.S. and Canadian payroll
- Provide payroll expertise and implement best practices
- Support processing and analysis of biweekly monthly and annual payroll data including OT rates
- Support local state and federal payroll tax activities including tax registration tax updates and regulations filings and tax audits
- Review and input required garnishments deductions and leave
- Provide payroll data from Workday for required workers compensation state and federal reports and
- Oversee and audit payroll General Ledger including management of back-end attribution of roles across project or capital labor assignment
- Perform monthly OT variance analysis
- Assist Accounting and Finance in researching actual to budget variances
- Oversee and audit payroll GL and cash requirements to actual cash outflow
- Research and provide coding for payroll notices
- Oversee and audit management of Concur T&E expense reimbursements and reporting
- Support in system enhancement process improvement and implementation of Workday in Q1 2026
THE DETAILS: - Location: Denver CO In office 3 days per week
- Travel: Minimal less than 10%
- Compensation: $102000 - $117000 annually bonus

- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must pass comprehensive background and drug screening
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelors degree in accounting finance or related field preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
- 3 years of Payroll supervisory experience desired
- Deep knowledge of payroll functions specifically payroll taxes and Canadian payroll processing in Workday preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Expertise with Microsoft Excel
