DEAN OF THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION BUSINESS & PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

Spalding University invites applications for the position of Academic Dean of the College of
Education Business and Professional Studies. We seek a dynamic visionary and collaborative
leader to guide the College in advancing its mission of academic excellence innovation and
community engagement.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Situated in the heart of downtown Louisville Kentuckys largest city Spalding University
combines a rich history and a commitment to community service as we attract students who
desire a high-quality education in a very personalized setting. An engaged faculty serves nearly
1500 students at the bachelors masters and doctoral levels providing real-world learning in
liberal and professional studies.

Since 1814 Spalding has been serving its students and the Louisville community in the tradition
of its founders the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth with a spirit of service inclusiveness and
compassion. With a total enrollment of approximately 1500 Spalding University is accredited
by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to
award more than 65 degrees at the associates bachelors masters specialists and doctoral
levels. Offering six doctoral-level programs with a significant research component Spalding has
been recognized by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education as a doctoral
research university.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling

The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is fully accredited by the
Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
CACREP accreditation confirms that the program meets rigorous professional standards and
prepares graduates for licensure in many states. Students completing this degree are eligible to sit
for the National Counselor Examination (NCE) the certification exam required to become a
licensed counselor.

With a diverse portfolio of undergraduate graduate and professional programs the College
provides a strong foundation in academic excellence applied research and holistic approaches to
learning and development. Through rigorous preparation in educational theory and practice
business strategy and innovation and clinical mental health counseling the College equips
students with the knowledge and skills to lead in classrooms boardrooms and counseling
settings. Emphasizing experiential learning ethical leadership and community engagement our
programs prepare graduates to become transformative professionals who advance human
potential and well-being across diverse contexts.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the College and will be
responsible for providing strategic leadership managing academic programs and fostering
innovation across its departments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a steadfast commitment
to student success faculty development and academic excellence while building strong
relationships within the university and with external stakeholders including school districts
business and industry leaders and community partners.

The Dean plays a pivotal role in enhancing the colleges impact and student success by leading
initiatives that strengthen career readiness and job placement outcomes. This includes integrating
practical skills into the curriculum expanding internship opportunities and fostering
partnerships with employers. The Dean also actively engages with alumni to build a strong
professional network that supports mentorship recruitment and philanthropic efforts.
Additionally the Dean convenes a college-level advisory board composed of industry leaders
alumni and community stakeholders to provide strategic guidance ensure program relevance
and align the colleges goals with evolving market demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for academic programs in education business andprofessional studies.
  • Collaborate with faculty staff and university leadership to enhance curriculum teachingquality and student outcomes.
  • Oversee accreditation and program review processes to ensure academic excellence andcompliance.
  • Promote faculty scholarship research and professional development opportunities.
  • Manage budgets allocate resources effectively and lead fundraising and grant-seekingefforts.
  • Cultivate partnerships with industry K-12 school districts professional organizationsand community stakeholders.
  • Support recruitment retention and career readiness efforts to improve student outcomes.
  • Represent the College in university-wide initiatives and to external constituencies.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in a discipline represented within the College (e.g. EducationBusiness Counseling or a related field).
  • Distinguished academic record meriting appointment at the rank of professor.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive academic leadership experience ( chair associate dean dean).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with transparency collaboration and ethical integrity.
  • Experience in curriculum development accreditation and program assessment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working across multiple academic disciplines or in a college with variedprofessional programs.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain external partnerships with businesses school systemsand community organizations.
  • Successful track record in grant writing fundraising and corporate engagement.
  • Exceptional communication strategic planning and problem-solving skills.
