This position is located at the Lenoir Youth Development Center
in Kinston NC (Lenoir County)
Position is required to be on call and available 24 / 7. Facilities are operated 24/7 weekends & holidays.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position. Monday - Friday 8Am to 5PM or as needed to execute the duties and responsibilities of the position outside of the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Position is required to be on call and available 24 / 7. Facilities are operated 24/7 weekends & holidays.

DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.
The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) is REQUIRED to qualify for this position. Management Preferences including Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) are not required but may be used to determine the pool of most qualified applicants. Managers may also choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.
All work history and education (including accurate dates of employment/attendance) must be documented on the application. Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. If that language appears below then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience OR a combination of both. Masters degree in a human services or business area such as education psychology social work business administration public administration of criminology from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of professional experience in treatment programming for youth two years of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
or
Bachelors degree in one of the above areas from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of experience as specified above three of which should have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications Applicants for positions designated as Juvenile Justice Officers are subject to and must meet the hiring and training standards established by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission as defined in Title 12 Chapter 9 of the NC Administrative Code by the statutory authority of GS 17C.
