MD Staffing Services is actively recruiting Optometrists (OD) licensed in California for upcoming onsite locum assignments across the state.

We partner with private practices retail vision centers community clinics rural health sites and government agencies to deliver high-quality optometric care. As a clinician-owned organization we understand what providers need to succeed in onsite roles.

Position Overview
Role: Optometrist (OD)
Work Type: Onsite Locum Tenens
Location: California (Multiple Cities)
Schedule: Flexible (Full-Time Part-Time Intermittent)
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate travel/lodging (when applicable)
Classification: 1099 Independent Contractor

Responsibilities

In this role you will deliver comprehensive onsite optometric care to a wide range of patient populations in clinical or retail settings.

• Perform comprehensive eye exams and vision assessments

• Diagnose and manage ocular diseases including glaucoma diabetic retinopathy dry eye and other conditions

• Prescribe corrective lenses medications (within scope) and treatments

• Provide pre- and post-operative evaluations for ophthalmology referrals

• Work collaboratively with ophthalmologists technicians and support staff

• Document all patient encounters accurately and within required timelines

• Provide patient education and reinforce treatment plans

• Support clinic flow efficiency and quality of care

Requirements (Qualifications)

• Active California Optometry License (OD)

• TPA certification strongly preferred

• Strong diagnostic and refraction skills

• Excellent communication and patient education abilities

• Comfortable working independently in a variety of clinical environments

• Reliable professional and committed to high-quality patient care

• Experience in private practice retail vision community clinics or rural health settings preferred
