Job Summary

Legal Assistant - Bankruptcy

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant to support attorneys within our Bankruptcy Practice Group. This role is central to the smooth functioning of the practice combining substantive legal support with administrative coordination. You will work closely with attorneys the office administrator and internal teams serving as a key point of contact between the firm its clients and external stakeholders.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment exercises sound judgment and takes ownership of deadlines and deliverables. You will have meaningful exposure to complex bankruptcy matters including litigation adversary proceedings and appeals while contributing directly to high-quality client service.

Key Responsibilities:

Bankruptcy & Litigation Support

  • Electronically file documents with Federal and State Courts including the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts and U.S. District Courts
  • Utilize CM/ECF and PACER systems for filings research and case monitoring
  • Draft and prepare notices monthly and quarterly fee applications and proofs of claim
  • Apply working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure particularly relating to service of motions objections and pleadings
  • Support bankruptcy litigation matters including adversary proceedings and appeals with familiarity with local and nationwide bankruptcy and district court rules (including Delaware)

Case & Document Management

  • Obtain review index and maintain legal records and documents for litigation matters
  • Organize and manage discovery files and document productions in both electronic and hardcopy formats
  • Prepare and maintain deposition materials including notices exhibits binders and summaries
  • Assist in preparing case materials for experts and trial teams
  • Support trial preparation and attend trials as needed

Technology & Tools

  • Work with spreadsheets and data using Microsoft Excel
  • Utilize litigation support and database tools such as Case Notebook Relativity and PowerPoint to organize and present information efficiently

Professional Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with attorneys clients court personnel and internal teams
  • Manage multiple priorities projects and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate initiative adaptability and the ability to quickly grasp and apply new concepts

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 3 5 years of legal administrative experience required; prior paralegal experience is a strong plus
  • Experience supporting bankruptcy or litigation practices preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently exercise sound judgment and meet strict deadlines
  • Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities at all levels

Education:

  • Associate degree or paralegal certificate required or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
