Responsibilities:
- Assisting in developing and implementing strategies and tactics to grow the freight operations
- Representing the company in engagements with internal and external stakeholders
- Planning future capacity requirements
- Recommending acquisition and disposal of assets
- Researching and implementing new trends and practices in freight and port operations
- Contributing to budgeting process for freight department and forecasting revenue margins OPEX and CAPEX
- Achieving set gross profit margins and implementing cost control
- Ensuring return on investment through effective utilisation of resources and assets
- Ensuring customer satisfaction and margin protection through managing operational efficiency
- Implementing departmental strategies for operational efficiencies and excellence
- Ensure compliance and operational efficiency in transit shed bonded warehouse clearing and forwarding operations
- Tracking and maintaining penal sums in line with level of activity
- Utilising corridors to moves cargo profitably
- Conduct cost benefit analysis on all partnerships and subscriptions and make recommendations on whether to renew or terminate agreements
- Tracking performance of partners and suppliers and enforcing service level agreements
- Designing and implementing systems process flows best practices policies and work instructions to achieve process efficiency and excellence
- Ensuring effective SOPs and controls are in place to prevent mitigate wastage pilferage leakage and losses
- Ensuring all customer inventory under port bonded warehouse staging facilities and transit shed is accurately accounted for and handled according to product requirements.
- Ensuring all company equipment under division is accurately accounted for and utilised for intended purpose
- Ensuring relevance and accuracy of all documentation relating to goods in and out of the port and warehouses
- Identifying and implementing any system improvements
- Working in liaison with Loss Control to design security controls
- Delivering superior service and value to customers in line with set parameters time and cost
- Satisfying and retaining customers through service delivery and engagement
- Resolving customer queries within set timelines and guidelines
- Contributing to new business initiatives and projects to satisfy customers and grow the business
- Ensuring IT and automated systems in use are accurate and up to date
- Driving optimal utilisation of IT and automated systems
- Developing and maintaining metrics KPIs reports and process documentation to be utilised as data sources
- Utilising available data to improve the business and make intelligent decisions
