L3Harris Technologies is seeking an experienced Military Specifications Technical Writer to join our team in Salt Lake City UT. This skilled Technical Writer will be responsible for authoring editing and proofing a variety of technical documents including Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals Technical Orders (TOs) Technical Manuals (TMs) and Users Manuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Author technical documents in compliance with military specifications and standards.
- Utilize Standard Generalized Markup Language(SGML) and/or Extensible Markup Language (XML) for document creation.
- Collaborate with engineers customer representatives subject matter experts vendors and internal teams to gather and analyze technical information.
- Ensure documents meet proper grammar punctuation and formatting requirements.
- Manage project timelines and workloads effectively.
- Integrate style sheets programming scripts XML SGML and FOSI (Formatting Output Specification Instance) programming.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience; OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience; OR in lieu of a degree minimum 10 years of prior related experience.
- Experience inSGML and XML.
- Experience authoringO&M Manuals TOs TMs and related technical documents.
- Experience with military specifications and standards (e.g. MIL-STD-38784 MIL-STD-40051 MIL-DTL-38807).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) Adobe Acrobat and Adobe FrameMaker.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong editing and proofing skills.
- Ability to research and comprehend detailed technical processes.
- Experience with S1000D data modules and project management.
- Understanding of Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) and Common Source Database (CSDB) development standards.
- Security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) or ability to obtain security clearance.
