Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader who will support one of our ongoing road projects in Sri Lanka. The project is in its final phase (last 6 months of the contract period). The assignment focuses primarily on project closure activities including completion of balance or additional work and resolution of pending or ongoing contractor claims. This role requires extensive site visits and may involve extended working hours to meet project requirements.

The Team Leader will be responsible for the following key tasks:

a) Review project documents and conduct meetings with the project team contractor employer and other stakeholders to assess the current project status and plan further implementation.

b) Reconcile and verify completed works in accordance with the contract documents.

c) Prepare a balance works list and follow up with the contractor for submission of an updated work programme as required to ensure timely completion of remaining works.

d) Restructure the supervision teams monthly weekly and daily schedules in line with work requirements and mentor/guidance team members to ensure effective day-to-day supervision and smooth project closure in compliance with the contract.

e) Organize and chair regular weekly and/or monthly stakeholder meetings as required under the contract document key discussions prepare minutes of meetings and circulate them to participants with copies to the HQ Project Coordinator.

f) Review project deliverables and ensure compliance with the consultancy contract requirements.

g) Review ongoing and pending contractor claims coordinate discussions with the HQ Project Coordinator and manage claim assessments in accordance with contractual provisions.

h) Attend to all contractual correspondence from stakeholders under both the civil works and consultancy contracts including preparation of draft determinations and notices and coordinate with HQ prior to issuing formal responses.

i) Perform any other duties as instructed by the HQ Project Coordinator to ensure smooth project completion and full contractual compliance.

j) Review the Terms of Reference under the consultancy contract and ensure that all deliveries and obligations are met in accordance with contractual requirements.


Qualifications :

The Team Leader shall be a professionally qualified BSc Civil Engineer supported by post-graduate qualifications with a minimum of 20 years of professional experience in highway and bridge construction. The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience as a Team Leader in construction supervision of post-tensioning box girder bridges and/or elevated highways.

Core Qualifications

Contractual Expertise

  • Thorough familiarity with FIDIC contract provisions is essential.
  • Proven experience managing contractor claims.
  • Experience with projects implemented under FIDIC Yellow Book Conditions of Contract.
  • As The Engineer the Team Leader will be responsible for the administration of the civil works contract under the FIDIC Yellow Book.

Institutional Experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project closure procedures for large-scale infrastructure projects.

Professional Attributes

  • Ability to work in a self-directed and disciplined manner.
  • Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary professional teams on projects of similar scope and complexity.
  • Strong coordination communication and leadership skills.
