Job Summary

Great Southern Wood Preserving Incorporated is well known for its flagship product YellaWood brand pressure treated pine which it sells through Do-It-Yourself retail home centers pro dealers and other retail building-related and industrial segments. Our distribution coverage stretches from the Florida Keys to Texas to Canada an area that includes all or parts of 27 states and the District of Columbia as well as much of the Caribbean and Latin America and part of the European Union and Mediterranean region. From pressure treated fence products columns deck specialties and KDAT products YellaWood is the brand of choice for outdoor building.

Summary

Works with and through Management at assigned location(s) to ensure compliance with all Federal and State(s) safety and health regulations and promote the safety program to the highest level. Requires extensive knowledge of OSHA Standards and State and Local Regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Provides proactive leadership to teammates and established sa safety culture
  • Assists wtih Company safety audits/inspections at assigned location. Responsible for coordinating action plan to resolve any audit/inspection findings.
  • Maintains documentation necessary to comply with the Safety Management Plan OSHA and other applicable regulations.
  • Works with plant management to enforce safety policies and procedures that help prevent accidents.
  • Represents the site in incident investigations complaints and recommends measures to management to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Interacts with OSHA and other regulatory agencies regarding citations accidents claims site visits and audits.
  • Organizes and conducts safety meetings and training.
  • Interacts and communicates with Capital Expenditures/Project Management team to ensure contractor and subcontractor safety.
  • Able to adapt to a flexible fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in industrial safety or related field is preferred and at least four (4) years of work experience in Environment health and/or industrial safety or related field required.
  • Experience conducting safety audits required.
  • OSHA 30 OSHA 511 and/or OSHA 501 certification preferred.
  • Must be able to read and analyze reports periodicals data and other safety materials.
  • Must have strong communication skills both orally and written. Must be able to write reports business correspondence and safety procedure manuals.
  • Must possess current valid license with safe driving record.
