Compensation: $35 per hour
Schedule: 2530 hours a week JanuaryNovember 2026
Position Description:
Brooklyn Botanic Gardens mission to connect people to the world of plants and spark curiosity about science is expressed by the sharing of its living and non-living collections programs that encourage lifelong learning and engaging public experiences. Art has been a primary vehicle used by BBG to encourage visitors to make connections between science and the beauty of nature for decades. BBG currently welcomes over 860000 visitors each year.
In 2025 Brooklyn Botanic Garden launched an art fellowship that works with artists and environmental thinkers to create science-based site-specific artwork through an 18-month fellowship. Fostering co-creation and collaboration among artists and environmental thinkers and displaying their work the project deepens the connection to science and inspires an appreciation and sense of stewardship of the environment. To carry this out BBG is looking for a detail-oriented Art & Science fellowship coordinator to join our team on a part-time basis. This position will also engage in coordinating and implementing other art exhibitions at BBG.
Responsibilities:
- Manage an RFP process and tracking system.
- Liaise between artists and the Garden (various departments).
- Manage daily administrative tasks such as email correspondence scheduling etc.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
- Support the team with project coordination and follow-up.
- Assist with drafting and/or editing exhibition materials (i.e. interpretive labels checklists and guides).
- Establish effect communication systems with BBG staff and artists.
- Assist with planning for and execution of installation.
Qualifications:
- Four years related career experience preferred (work with artists and project management)
- Superior organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Comfort with deadline-driven work
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Google Workspace PowerPoint and Excel
- Flexibility and sense of humor a must
