Position Summary:
We are looking for a Director of Nursing to coordinate the nursing team maintain a high standard of care for our residents and oversee all nursing this role the Director of Nursing will also establish goals for the nursing department and work diligently with the other members of our nursing staff to reduce the risk of errors and omissions while abiding by IDPH regulations.
Responsibilities:
Supervising all nursing staff and CNAs
Overseeing department budgets
Reporting to higher management in the healthcare facility
Maintaining high standards of care for all patients
Managing patients data and medical records as confidential records
Communicating with doctors residents and family members about residents health
Recruiting training and onboarding new nursing staff
Providing ongoing education classes
Implementing new procedures and training Nurses on policies
Monitor residents health and report changes or concerns to the physician and family as appropriate.
Supervise and support caregivers and CNAs to ensure care standards are met.
Communicate effectively with residents families and interdisciplinary team members.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
Oversee care plan meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of resident-centered plans.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a DON or other management role in healthcare
Active Registered Nurse license
Degree in nursing leadership nursing management healthcare management or a related field (preferred)
Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills to interact positively with staff patients and patients families
Extensive knowledge of nursing practices and federal state and local healthcare laws
Strong written communication skills to compile reports and write evaluations
Coaching skills to help nurses continue to improve their performance
Ability to use electronic health records word processing spreadsheet and email software
CPR certification required.
Prior experience in senior living long-term care or assisted living preferred.
Strong clinical skills and attention to detail.
Compassionate and professional demeanor.
Ability to supervise mentor and work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
