If you answered yes to these questions know that Radio-Canada is looking for an English as a Second Language (ESL) Content Writer for the Mauril application a platform for learning French and English with diverse stimulating and entertaining content from CBC/Radio-Canada.


You will actively contribute to creating an innovative product that provides a distinctive edutainment-based approach to language learning through audio and video content that reflects Canada and its cultural diversity. As a member of the team you will develop teaching material to help users acquire ESL proficiency and progress through the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).


Here at CBC/Radio-Canada youll find a uniquely stimulating team-focused work environment. This position reports to the Educational Technology Specialist.

Please note this is a 12-month contract position with a possibility of extension. The position is based out of Montreal.


More specifically you will perform the following duties:

  • Draft ESL learning activities at multiple levels for use in the application.

  • Revise for give feedback to and collaborate with other team members on a variety of technical written tasks.

  • Build users learning journey from scratch at a variety of levels identifying common themes finding relevant vocabulary and grammar points and presenting information in an approachable way.

  • Review audio/video content and categorize it based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).

  • Identify appropriate clips to create ESL learning exercises for a range of levels.

  • Take part in discussions and observations about the user experience of learners at different stages of project development.


We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Bachelors degree in linguistics English as a Second Language teaching (ESL) education or other related relevant training

  • Knowledge of and experience in assessing students second-language learning requirements

  • Experience in technical writing editing translation (writing content for e-learning platforms an asset)

  • Native-level English skills and strong French-language skills spoken and written

  • Understanding of language proficiency levels (Canadian Language Benchmarks Common European Framework of Reference)

  • Familiarity with popular language learning apps (Mauril an asset)

  • Familiarity with AI for content creation (an asset)
