Governance & Information - Ensuring Compliance of our Risk Management Leases and Vital Records
Were seeking a Coordinator Governance and Information for a fixed-term contract (ending March 2026). You will be the expert who strategically streamlines our risk management leases and vital records. This is more than administrative oversightits strategic leadership to guarantee we meet all statutory and council requirements. You will use your exceptional stakeholder management skills to build and maintain the key relationships that ensure our organisation runs smoothly providing the foundational stability needed for our coastal community to thrive.
What Youll Do
As our Coordinator Governance & Information you will:
Demonstrate successful leadership through the application of the Shires core values and promote a work culture of compliance with the Local Government Act (WA) 1995.
Ensure the Shire meets all statutory council and local law requirements including managing governance systems administering FOI processes and coordinating the annual Local Government Compliance Audit Return (CAR).
Maintain and administer the corporate risk management framework (including operational and strategic risk registers) perform internal audits and promote a culture of risk awareness through training and coordination.
Oversee the Shires records management system to comply with the State Records Act 2000 including digitization archiving records disposal and developing compliant policies procedures and training.
Provide specialist environmental and public health advice to Community Planning and Sustainability staff regarding planning applications building approvals onsite wastewater proposals and development compliance.
Coordinate lease and property disposal processes maintain compliance registers for leases and manage statutory registers related to delegations authorisations and interests.
About You
Youll bring:
Cert IV or higher in relevant disciplines.
Highly effective communication skills (written and verbal) including ability to prepare initial reports letters emails and assist with applications.
Relevant professional qualifications and/or demonstrated relevant experience with information management leasing and corporate governance or ability to commit to further education and training.
Ability to work autonomously with highly developed time management organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
Comprehensive knowledge in compliance and statutory requirements of Local Government to relevant legislative bodies or relevant and transferable skills and knowledge.
Demonstrated experience in the operation of a range of software solutions including Microsoft systems and Local Government speciic software or demonstrated ability to learn and aquire the relevant knowledge.
Demonstrated ability to effectively train and mentor employees in relation to Governance and Information practices and procedures including direct reports and across the organisation.
Experience working in local government governance record keeping information management is highly regarded.
