The Head Beach Volleyball Coach under the direction of the Athletic Director or designee plays an integral role in the design development implementation and interpretation of departmental processes and/or programs. The Head Beach Volleyball Coachs primary responsibility is the coaching and instruction of the sport of Beach Volleyball.
Approximately 60% of the Coachs responsibility is dedicated to the instruction of Beach Volleyball through on-court training and classroom training using video and other teaching techniques.
Approximately 40% of the Coachs responsibility is recruiting and other administrative duties.
Job Functions
The Head Coach is responsible for directing the activities related to the Beach Volleyball program including coaching planning organizing recruiting and adherence to budgets and rules as defined by UNF ASUN Conference and the NCAA.
Key responsibilities include:
Coach student-athletes in Beach Volleyball at UNF.
Use working knowledge of skills to prepare game and practice plans to benefit the growth of the student-athlete.
Assist and encourage student-athletes in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence.
Oversee the academic progress of student-athletes in conjunction with the Academic Advisor.
Counsel student-athletes as needed in academic disciplinary and personal matters.
Maintain adherence to college sport regulations policy and accreditation procedures; follow UNF ASUN and NCAA rules and regulations in all aspects of running the program.
Oversee and direct recruitment of student-athletes on behalf of the athletic program.
Organize plan and conduct team practices and games.
Scout prospective athletes at various sporting events.
Represent UNF in professional civic charity and alumni events.
Serve as the programs contact for administrators regarding budget rules compliance and other duties customarily assigned to a Head Coach.
Adhere to all institution conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
Report all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional conference and NCAA policies and guidelines.
Marginal Functions:
Supervision Exercised:
Supervision of assistant coaches volunteer coaches managers and other personnel employed to help manage the program.
Supervision Received:
Reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations; is responsible for the coordination and/or direction of the Baseball program. The incumbent establishes procedures for attaining specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work; contact between the employee and supervisor is limited in terms of frequency and matters covered.
Level of Public Contact:
Actively participates in the promotion of the Beach Volleyball program through fund-raising activities speeches clinics etc. Will be the athletic departments liaison between the Beach Volleyball program and the news media.
Monetary Responsibility:
Prepares and administers the Beach Volleyball budget relative to recruitment equipment travel scholarships etc.
Policy-making and/or Interpretation:
Responsible for establishing team guidelines and policies and adherence to NCAA Conference and University policy and procedures. Ability to adhere to and interpret the rules and regulations of the NCAA State University System and the University.
Program Direction and Development:
Responsible for planning directing developing and implementing the Beach Volleyball program.
Statement of Responsibility for Confidential Data:
Gathers and analyzes data from student records which must be submitted to the NCAA SUS The Conference or University officials protecting the anonymity of the student-athlete where possible. Monitors academic progress of individual student-athletes who have given written permission for such action.
Required Qualifications
Masters and 2 years of relevant experience or Bachelors degree and 4 years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.Departmental Requirements:
Must have demonstrated ability to lead and direct a sports program; working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; good oral and written communication skills; and strong organizational skills. Coaching experience at the Division I level is preferred along with collegiate playing experience.

The holder of this position is responsible for any NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference bylaws and guidelines that a member of the UNF Athletic Compliance Department provides in addition to all UNF regulations.
