The Career and Employment Specialist for the Transition University for Career Advancement and Successful Adulthood (Transition University) program coordinates and monitors all career-based learning and employment opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities. This role ensures implementation of various work-based learning experiences supports post-completion workforce tracking and collaborates with staff and external partners to provide individualized person-centered guidance. The specialist advances students academic career and independent living goals by facilitating community partnerships providing timely support and fostering responsive programming.
Position Hours: 100% on-site at the San Antonio campus and/or at related site visits to support program participants in the field. Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with flexibility to work beyond normal hours including evenings and weekends as necessary. Work will include student support and engagement.
This is a grant funded position. This is a grant-funded position that is based on the continuation of the grant (for up to five years)
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and monitor career-based learning internships/practice and employment opportunities for Transition University students ensuring individualized support.
Implement career skill development programs instruction and workshops observe and provide feedback to internship/practicum students and guide workforce placement efforts for successful transition to employment.
Serve as liaison to internship/practicum site supervisors the Mays Center for professional services vocational rehabilitation partners and local community employers ensuring all services and opportunities meet the unique needs of each student.
Oversee implement and support the use of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and collaborate with Transition University staff coaches and faculty to address both academic and career outcomes for each student.
Coordinate with faculty/instructors and ensure expectations syllabus modifications and accommodations are established for vocational and academic placements.
Support daily program operations including timely implementation of required activities oversight of student job coaching and continuous guidance for students academic and employment success.
Train and supervise program support staff and student workers especially those assigned as job coaches strengthening peer-supported pathways to community and career success.
Identify program and faculty development needs based on feedback data and observation; provide or coordinate professional development focused on successful employment transition practices.
Guide and participate in the development organization provision and adaptation of curriculum or workshop materials including instructional and training aids that align with Universal Design principles.
Lead support and collaborate on the collection maintenance and analysis of data related to student outcomes workforce tracking and continuous program improvement for grant compliance and reporting.
Maintain detailed and accurate reports and records as required for federal.
Grant and employer compliance; assist with data collection for program assessment and grant compliance.
Collaborate with internal and external partnersfaculty administration university leadership community organizations funding agencies
Consultants and external evaluatorsto optimize delivery of project services.
Support communicate and promote the Transition University programs goals and priorities to all campus and community stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with university and funding agency policies procedures and guidelines including data storage and reporting requirements.
Coordinate daily office support activities and administrative interactions to ensure smooth program operations.
Assist in the coordination of daily workflow and the resolution of complex highly sensitive and confidential matters related to the program.
Coordinate develop and maintain outward facing program information and materials for dissemination (e.g. website newsletter marketing).
Collect and maintain a variety of program research and evaluation data including academic/program records & reports.
Provide technical information regarding procedures services or programs for students and partners.
Develop procedures for specialized functions to enhance program delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree or higher in related field.
Two (2) years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree and three (3) years of related experience in career readiness workforce development education or disability support.
Masters degree preferred.
Experience planning coordinating and organizing complex multi-activity projects related to career skills or workforce development.
Experience in special education intellectual disabilities transition services or career services including support for college students and families.
Record of excellence in career skills development and workforce/community partnership creation.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to manage multiple tasks meet competing priorities and work both independently and cooperatively.
Strong verbal written and interpersonal communication skills; able to work with individuals from the community.
Knowledge of the design and development of curriculum accommodations and training materials for workforce readiness and independence.
Proficient in using technology maintaining records and preparing timely accurate reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with faculty staff employers community representatives students and families.
Skilled at providing training supervision and professional development for university and community members.
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Excellent analytical organizational problem-solving and multitasking skills in a high-stress environment.
