TITLE: Assistant Teacher
REPORTS TO: Supervising Teacher and Principal
LENGTH OF CONTRACT OR WORK YEAR: 9 months (187 days)
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in improving students skills in all academic areas as directed by the teacher.
- Promotes a positive image of the school district program to the public.
- Keeps records as directed by the teacher.
- Attends parent-teacher conferences as directed by the teacher.
- Exhibits high expectations for self and students.
- Demonstrates continued growth by participation in professional development activities.
- Adheres to all safety procedures rules and policies to ensure the well-being of all students.
- Reports regularly and punctually to assigned work location and notifies principal or designee of impending absence in a timely manner.
- Maintains active supervision of students during all work and duty assignments.
- Maintains confidentiality of all student information.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the teacher and/or principal.
- Regular in person attendance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have completed at least 2 years of study (48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education; or
2. Obtained an associates (or higher) degree; or
3. Met a rigorous standard of quality as determined by a formal assessment. WorkKeys Test Reading for Information score of 4 Applied Mathematics score of 4 and Writing or Business Writing score of 3; OR WorkKeys Silver Level certification: Workplace Documents score of 4 Applied Mathematics score of 4 and a Writing or Business Writing score of 3.
