Purpose
Leads and oversees Procurement Operations and Payments Quality Assurance (QA) team ensuring that Procurement best practices are incorporated into the management of Procurement policies process design use of supporting technology and management of operational risk.
Accountabilities
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge.
- Manages a team of operational personnel that supports Procurement & Payments QA to confirm requests are aligned to Expense Management Policies Procurement Operating Standards and other relevant corporate policies and standards
- Monitors operational KPIs to develop a QA schedule of key procurement and payment activities
- Reviews the sampling of procurement and payments data to advise on the level of data quality
- Monitors QA reports and recommends process improvements and additional controls
- Prepares and maintains operational procedures related to Procurement Operations & Payments QA
- Escalate issues related to expense reports or invoice submissions out of alignment with policy
- Recommend updates to Expense Management and Payment Policies based on trends
- Develop communications that proactively educates employees on Expense Management and Payment Policies based on Payments QA trends
- Contributes to the maintenance of SOX PD & RCM documentation
- Monitors operational efficiency and effectiveness through the development maintenance and reporting of Procurement QA KPIs/KRIs
- Promotes collaboration within Procurement team members on continuous improvement projects
- Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabanks Values its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational compliance AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts retains develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Dimensions
- Oversee team of up to 10 full-time employees
- Subject to SOX reporting accountabilities for controls documentation and audit support
- Supports all business units in Canada
Education / Experience / Other Information
- 3 years experience in Financial industry
- 3 years experience in accounting department of public corporations
- Fluency in French desired but not required
Working Conditions
- Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
