MSIM Operations
The MSIM Operations group supports Morgan Stanley Investment Managements (MSIM) equity fixed income and alternative businesses by providing comprehensive middle-office services. These include portfolio manager support client services (such as client reporting) portfolio transition management market registration product data maintenance and performance and attribution analysis. Certain investment operations functions are outsourced globally to State Street Bank and Trust Company.
Background on the Team

As part of the MSIM Operations group this role is based in Tokyo Operations and focuses on delivering high-quality client reporting for Pension Clients Financial Institutions and Intermediary Clients in Japan. The position is part of the Tokyo Client Reporting Team which consists of five staff members. The role involves close collaboration with Sales teams (Pensions Financial Institutions and Intermediary) and Investment Teams/Portfolio Specialists to meet disclosure requirements and client expectations.
Primary Responsibilities
>Respond to regular and ad hoc internal/external client requests and resolve issues promptly.
>Collaborate closely with sales representatives to deliver exceptional client service.
>Act as a liaison with Investment Managers Portfolio Specialists and the Marketing team.
>Build and maintain strong relationships with global and local stakeholders to ensure optimal client experience.
>Identify potential risk areas provide recommendations and escalate issues through appropriate channels.
>Prepare and deliver daily weekly monthly quarterly semi-annual annual and ad hoc reports for public and private pension clients financial institutions and intermediary clients (including consultant reporting).
>Maintain account and counterparty lists accurately.
>Ensure all deliverables follow the Maker/Checker process.
>Liaise with Trust Banks as needed.
>Drive efficiency improvements in reporting processes through automation streamlining and process engineering initiatives.
>Participate in and contribute to global and local projects and initiatives. Skills required (essential)

>Basic understanding of investment management business regulations and products.
>Fluency in Japanese and business-level English (written and spoken).
>Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex situations clearly.
>Proactive detail-oriented and a strong team player with problem-solving capabilities.
>Excellent time management skills; ability to multitask prioritize and meet deadlines.
>Self-motivated with a positive and professional attitude.
>Effective communicator in global conference calls.
>Demonstrated leadership and accountability.
>Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
>Solid knowledge of financial products and markets.
>Ability to interact effectively across cultural and hierarchical boundaries.
>Strong risk awareness and ability to escalate issues appropriately.

Skills desired

>Experience with client service-oriented roles.
>Advanced PC skills (Alteryx UiPath Power Apps VBA or similar tools).
>Familiarity with Bloomberg Syntax FactSet and T-Star.
>Knowledge of Trust Bank statements and fund accounting procedures.
>Understanding of Japanese laws and regulations related to investment management.
>Good understanding of performance and attribution.
