Job Summary

Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Team: Finance Senior Management

Reports To: Executive Director

Position Type: Full-time averaging 40 hours per week.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Compensation: Typical Hiring Range: $134000 $162000 DOE

Work Location: Portland Oregon. OJF is currently a hybrid workplace with some in-office work required balanced with remote work.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Our Just Future (OJF) formerly known as Human Solutions seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who is passionate about growing the financial capacity and sustainability of an organization dedicated to advancing racial housing and economic justice with a primary geographic focus on East Portland and East Multnomah County. The CFO provides strategic and collaborative leadership to ensure that Our Just Future maintains the fiscal integrity and compliance orientation required to achieve its mission. The CFO serves as a core member of the agencys leadership team staff supports the Boards Finance Committee and leads the agencys Finance Team which consists of a mission-driven cohort of five finance and accounting professionals. The team manages a complex and vital array of functions including Contracts Accounting AP and AR Audit Budget Risk Payroll and IT that sustain and support agency operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Others may be assigned as needed)

1. Lead the development of the Our Just Futures annual budget and ensure the ongoing availability of accurate timely budget monitoring information and reports; analyze and/or produce property-based budgets for agency assets; assist department managers and supervisors with budgetary issues.

2. Analyze report on and assess the agencys financial condition and trends to ensure sustainable and compliant operations. Coordinate closely across the agencys Groups and Teams to manage key fiscal compliance and risk management issues confronting the agency.

3. Ensure that the OJF Finance Team produces informative and necessary accounting reports and materials on a timely and compliant basis; review and analyze output to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

4. Confirm that the agency payroll activities are completed accurately on a timely basis including the payment of all payroll taxes; ensure that all receipts and accounts

receivable are recorded accurately and that the disbursements and accounts payable are correct. Ensure that all funds are deposited and recorded accurately on a timely basis.

5. Manage the accurate and timely operation of the fiscal systems for Our Just Future; ensure that the fiscal operations of all properties are accurate and timely; provide fiscal management and oversight as needed.

6. Ensure that the agency is in compliance with all fiscal requirements and local state and federal laws. Ensure that the policies and procedures in the Fiscal Manual are followed; update the Manual as needed.

7. Coordinate audit and tax activities and reporting for Our Just Future and its subsidiary entities and properties.

8. Provide support and training to Our Just Futures Board of Directors to support their role of fiduciary oversight; staff and support the Boards Finance Committee.

9. Oversee insurance and risk management for the agency.

10. Oversee Third-Party Contracted IT Facilities and Fleet for the agency.

11. When required act in the capacity of the Executive Director on an occasional basis when he or she may be on leave or unavailable.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The CFO currently directly supervises four employees on the Finance Team including managers who oversee accounting positions. The CFO leads the Finance Team and is responsible for creating an equitable and inclusive climate. The CFO carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES

A four-year degree in Finance Accounting or related field. CPA CMA MBA or equivalent credential preferred but not required.

Minimum of five years of growth in a leadership position in fiscal management or comparable education and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential duties is required.

Demonstrated ability to lead key Financial Processes such as complex budgeting budget monitoring Audits and financial compliance.

Experience with government contracting nonprofit fiscal management and/or the financing and long-term asset management of affordable housing preferred. Experience in MIP or transferable systems experience preferred.

A working understanding of Risk Management Information Technology Management (not IT expertise) and Asset Management.

A demonstrated understanding of racial equity and racial justice work and how to apply an equity lens in the development of policies practices and compensation plans.

Personal commitment to equity inclusion and anti-oppression principles.

The position requires strong attention to detail and collaboration with internal and external teams.

Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid drivers license clean driving record and reliable transportation required. Vehicle insurance coverage limits must be $100000 bodily injury liability for one person $300000 bodily injury liability for all people in an accident and $100000 property damage liability.
