For additional information visit us at. What is the opportunity Our Mechanic is an integral position within the Parks Department in the Deerfield Park District. This role is responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs on all park maintenance equipment and vehicles as well as other mechanical equipment at pools and other facilities as directed. Under the supervision of the Faculties and Trades Manager the Mechanic performs essential maintenance tasks and may occasionally supervise full and part-time maintenance staff. Key Responsibilities - Schedule/perform preventative maintenance (fluids tires filters) on vehicles mowers tractors etc.
- Conduct emergency repairs in field.
- Inspect/repair engines systems ignitions lighting; weld/fabricate steel.
- Maintain records; recommend purchases; coordinate inspections.
- Winterize/service equipment; assist with pools; manage inventory.
- Perform snow removal; continue education.
- Marginal: Repair buildings irrigation; other duties.

- Tools: Use hand/power tools welding OBD hoist office equipment.
- Demands: Lift 20-50 lbs; manual dexterity; vision; timely work organization.
- Conditions: Indoor garage; occasional outdoors; noise exposure.
Safety Follow district policies: Maintain safe areas use judgment report issues adhere to instructions/ergonomics. Qualifications - 18 years old.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 2 years automotive repair experience.
- Valid Class B CDL.
