AEMO at the Heart of Energy
AEMO is Australias independent energy system and market operator and system planner. AEMOs purpose is to ensure safe reliable and affordable energy today and enable the energy transition for the benefit of all Australians. Australian governments are now committed to a net zero economy for Australia by 2050 and our vision is to enable this. We have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to co-design the future of our energy systems and our core values revolve around character commitment and connection. Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector.
About the role
Western Australias largest power system the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) is rapidly evolving. All coal fired power stations are expected to retire over the next five years meaning the SWIS is shifting from its historic paradigm of baseload and peaking dominated by coal-fired generation to a future of renewables and firming.
The WA System Design and Transformation Group (SDT) is focussed on how we navigate the energy future through identifying planning for and managing emerging system challenges and opportunities whilst ensuring Western Australians continue to have access to secure reliable and affordable energy in the years to come.
The WA Future System Engineering Team (FSE) takes a future-focussed and pragmatic system-wide engineering perspective to the SWIS energy transition. It is responsible for identifying prioritising solutions to and mobilising industry wide collaboration and support for the most critical technical challenges of the energy transition.
You will lead the prioritisation and delivery of strategic engineering initiatives under the SWIS Engineering Roadmap Program. This will include SWIS Transition Point Planning and coordinating Transition Point readiness activities. You will also play a key role in the engagement with industry market bodies and governments on the engineering initiatives.
