Job Summary
Our client a company in the logistics sector is seeking to hire an Operations Manager at Haulage Port Logistics you will play a crucial role in overseeing the efficient movement and management of goods within the port facility. You will be responsible for coordinating various logistics operations to ensure timely delivery optimal resource utilization and adherence to safety standards.
Tasks
Responsibilities
Supervision and coordination
- Supervising and coordinating the activities of logistics personnel including loaders drivers and warehouse staff.
- Assigning tasks and responsibilities to team members to ensure smooth workflow.
- Collaborating with other departments such as operations procurement and maintenance to streamline logistics processes.
Inventory Management:
- Overseeing the receipt storage and dispatch of goods within the port facility.
- Conducting regular inventory checks to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Implementing inventory control measures to prevent loss or damage of goods.
Transportation Planning
- Planning and coordinating the transportation of goods within the port premises.
- Scheduling deliveries and pickups to optimize vehicle usage and minimize downtime.
- Ensuring compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Managing documentation related to inbound and outbound shipments including bills of lading manifests and customs paperwork.
- Generating reports on key performance indicators such as inventory levels delivery schedules and transportation costs.
- Analyzing data to identify areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforcing safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Conducting regular safety audits and training sessions for logistics staff.
Customer Service:
- Liaising with customers to address inquiries resolve issues and provide updates on shipment status.
- Maintaining positive relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
- Implementing best practices and innovative solutions to enhance logistics operations.
- Participating in regular meetings and brainstorming sessions to discuss improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in logistics supply chain management business administration or a related field.
- 4-5 years of proven experience in logistics operations preferably in a port environment.
- Logistics management Safety certifications are an added advantage
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be able to use excel and transportation management systems (TMS) including other relevant biotechnological operations.
