You will be the lead for the Business Controls and Monitoring (BCM) within the Data Digital and AI this role you will report into the central BCM Technology Team to ensure a connected network across BCM. BCM are a central team responsible for enabling business success in keeping the Bank safe. We drive a risk mindset so everyone has the capability to make informed decisions. We are responsible for evaluating directing and monitoring 1st line risk activities to ensure risks are kept within the risk appetite established for the Westpac Group. You will enable this by providing risk leadership to Westpac.
What we are looking for:
We are searching for a Head of Business Controls and Monitoring for the Data Digital and AI (DDAI) Division reporting to the Divisional Head of BCM Technology. This is a leadership role focused on establishing and embedding strong risk practices across the DDAI Division.
As the Head of BCM for the Data Digital and AI divisiona typical day might include the following:
- Lead Risk Strategy:Develop and drive risk management strategies for the Division assessing potential risks and exposures and implementing procedures to minimize risk within the Groups appetite.
- Enable Governance:Provide timely updates and line of sight to key risks and issues and the 2nd Line of Defence ensuring accountability and transparency.
- Influence Risk Culture:Partner with DDAI and Technology teams business stakeholders and 2LoD to foster a strong risk culture through guidance on risk assessments and oversight of remediation activities.
- Governance reporting:prepare and present management reports for governance forums (Group Executive Board and internal committees)
- Risk in Delivery and Operations:work closely with operational and delivery teams to ensure DDAI solutions and initiatives are designed implemented and operated with minimal risk exposure.
- Team Leadership:Lead and manage a team of risk specialists ensuring prioritization of resources and provide mentoring and coaching to build capability.
- Continuous Learning:Stay informed on industry developments and deepen your understanding of risk management practices and the evolving digital and AI landscape.
What do I need
- 15 years experience in a large and complex organisation primarily in the financial services industry
- Significant knowledge and experience in risk and regulatory landscape business knowledge and operational risk and compliance frameworks
- Proven experience working within Data Digital and Responsible AI environments
- Adaptive influencing and relationship building skills across senior executives and peers
- Excellent problem solving and evaluative judgement skills
- Strong skills in planning project management and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure with shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment
