This is NOT a remote position the job requires in-person work.

This position has the primary responsibility of having a strong knowledge of mechanical systems and processes for ensuring the preventive maintenance scheduled and unscheduled repairs of equipment in Maui Food Innovation Center facilities and its supporting systems. This position is responsible for maintaining the good working order of food manufacturing equipment while including troubleshooting and improving operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. **Ensure equipment is performing as designed and provide high-level work in a journeyman-quality manner.
  2. **Adhere to the Maui Food Innovation Center (MFIC)equipment manufacturers standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  3. **Consistently developing work orders and preventive maintenance schedules and contributes to and supports continuous improvement opportunities and initiatives to reduce expenses and improve the overall operation.
  4. **Responsible for assisting and training in staff changeovers general maintenance and inspecting the equipment lines for proper setup to ensure everything is set up correctly (wet process dry process cold process packaging room pot wash room receiving room etc.).
  5. **Troubleshoot service and repair facility and production equipment correctly and promptly. Troubleshoot packaging conveying and process equipment.
  6. **Assist MFIC staff with any equipment issues that may arise.
  7. **Monitor and maintain equipment for proper operation and report issues to administration.
  8. **Complete all necessary maintenance and quality assurance documentation.
  9. **Complete work orders according to the maintenance schedule and the criticality of repair requests.
  10. **Responsible for enforcing and following safety and quality standards good manufacturing practices (GMPs) Federal State and Local regulations and adherence to the Food Safety Modernization Act(FSMA) andFoodandDrug Administration (FDA) specifications.
  11. **Read and follow all instructions on the SOP documents and Food Safety Plan if applicable.
  12. **Ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is utilized as well as forklift compliance is adhered to.
  13. **Follow MFIC safety rules procedures and policies and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  14. **Collaborates with other stakeholders departments and communicates requirements opportunity areas the status of work orders and results.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Professional Work Experience

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree and three(3) years of progressively responsible professional experience or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of machinery and equipment demonstrated by knowledge of the full range of pertinent standards and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with Manufacturing Maintenance Machine Repair.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide-ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparing reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Basic electrical circuitry knowledge
  2. Required to fully comply with Quality Management System Policies and Procedures and Food Safety Management requirements.
  3. Ability to understand and follow blueprints documentation and manuals.
  4. Must be able to have flexible hours.
  5. Forkliftcertification.
  6. Possess strong attention to detail a sense of urgency and strong problem-solving skills.
  7. Strong mechanical aptitude for pumps gearboxes and equipment systems.
  8. Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills work independently cultivate a culture of trust accountability collaboration and teamwork.
  9. Preventive Controls Qualified Individual Food Safety Training.
