Your role and responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Network Inspector youll play a key role in keeping Suffolks roads safe and moving. Your mission Work with utility companies and other contractors to reduce disruption for road users improve safety and protect the integrity of our highways.
Youll inspect works on the highway under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and Traffic Management Act 2004 making sure everything meets the required standardsand taking action when it doesnt.
Collaboration is key: youll work closely with the Network Co-ordinator to plan and coordinate works ensuring minimal inconvenience to the this impartial role youll treat all activitieswhether from Suffolk Highways public utilities or private contractorswith fairness and consistency.

The team
Network Assurance is responsible for managing the occupation of Countys road network and delivering Suffolk County Councils Network Management Duty in line with the Traffic Management Act and the New Roads and Street Works Act. The authority successfully introduced a Permit Scheme on the 1 April 2020. Knowledge and experience of working and/or operating within a Permit Scheme would be an advantage.
