JOB BAND: B Journalist Coordinator
CONTRACT TYPE: Full-time Permanent
DEPARTMENT: BBC RADIO WM
LOCATION: Mailbox Birmingham
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 24800 to 29500 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join BBC Radio WM to help bring local stories to life across platforms. As a Journalist Co-ordinator youll support programme teams in creating compelling digital content from social media and visualised radio moments to online audio video clips and TV news. Working across all teams youll play a key role in growing audiences and enhancing storytelling through creativity collaboration and a passion for the West Midlands.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Support programme teams across BBC Radio WM to create engaging digital content for social media BBC Sounds online news and TV.
- Identify and visualise compelling radio moments to enhance cross-platform storytelling and audience reach.
- Collaborate with editorial teams to plan and deliver content that reflects the diversity and vibrancy of the West Midlands.
- Help shape innovative approaches to digital storytelling using tools and formats that connect with local audiences.
- Contribute to the stations ambition to grow its digital footprint and celebrate stories that matter to our communities.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Understanding of digital content creation including social media video and audio formats.
- Ability to identify and develop engaging stories that resonate with local audiences.
- Experience working collaboratively in fast-paced editorial environments.
- Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and storytelling.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Desired but Not Required
- Experience using editing software and visualisation tools (e.g. Dira FCP).
- Familiarity with BBC Sounds News Online or other BBC platforms.
- Understanding of audience analytics and how they inform content decisions.
- Knowledge of the West Midlands and its communities.
- Experience contributing to multi-platform campaigns or projects.
