What youll do

We have an opportunity for a Legal Counsel/In-House Lawyer to join our Legal Services team working closely with our team of lawyers and managers within the business and having responsibility for a range of tasks to provide legal advice across our broad organisation.

Our ideal candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic lawyer who has excellent communication and time management skills and good business acumen.

Reporting directly to the Head of Legal Services you will step into a truly diverse and critical in-house role acting as a trusted legal partner across our vast and complex social services organisation. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your legal expertise in a values-based environment that provides essential services to the community while working on a wide range of legal functions and tasks.

Youll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:

  • Helping to provide advice on a diverse range of legal issues and assist with a wide range of legal functions and tasks; including but not limited to drafting and preparation of contracts interpreting and administering obligations under contracting arrangements ensuring accuracy and completion of legal documentation; employment law matters and assisting with providing advice on internal industrial investigations and legislative change.
  • Drafting legal documentation including letters reports internal memos of advice policies and contracts.
  • Providing responses to legal requests for information including court orders and personal information requests.
  • Communicating and developing relationships with all areas and levels of the business.

What youll bring

Targeted at candidates with 2-5 years post admission experience you will have Tertiary qualifications in Law and admission to the Supreme Court of South Australia.

To thrive in this role you will have:

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience of any of the National Redress Scheme Privacy IT and emerging technologies Employment Law Employee Relations and Industrial Law will be valued
  • Comprehensive computer literacy skills particularly in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel Outlook Word)
  • High level administration skills with the ability to maintain records and documents confidentially.

  • Prior experience working with not-for-profit organisations will be highly regarded.
