- Provide clear pragmatic legal advice to management and senior executives on legal aspects of their areas of responsibility supporting the ongoing success of the organisation.
- Use legal expertise to drive growth and manage risk through timely accurate and practical legal advice that enables informed decision making.
- Support the design development and governance of AI-enabled tools models and processes including advising on legal regulatory contractual privacy and ethical requirements.
- Draft review and negotiate a wide range of contracts and commercial agreements including supplier distribution technology and service arrangements.
- Provide independent legal advice on a range of matters including:
- National Consumer Credit Protection Act
- Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act
- Real estate licensing obligations
- Australian Competition and Consumer Law
- General corporate and banking law
- Franchising law and the Franchising Code of Conduct
- Employment law
- Intellectual property law
- Partner with business units to support new projects incidents business initiatives acquisitions regulatory change and improvements to systems and products.
- Assist in managing and strengthening relationships with key regulators government agencies and industry bodies including ACCC ASIC AFCA and MFAA.
- Contribute to the development improvement and documentation of the legal functions processes templates and tools to maximise efficiency and business support.
- Provide legal support and guidance in relation to customer complaints including complex or escalated matters.
- Support adherence to company policies risk appetite and all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements including the NCCP regime.
- Promote and ensure appropriate management of customer information in line with privacy confidentiality and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage and instruct external counsel including scope and budget with a focus on reducing external legal spend and improving service levels and quality of advice.
Qualifications :
- 6 plus years of legal experience
- Law degree and current practicing certificate
- Ability to proactively identify understand communicate and act on current and future risks
- Proven attention to detail confidentiality and organisational discipline.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain strong relationships and influence others
