LMRT/RT Position Responsibilities
Pre-procedure Setup and Maintenance
Set up the procedural table including opening the Angio-pack and other necessary disposable equipment.
Configure the C-arm patient bed and procedural table appropriately for the scheduled procedure (i.e. prostate artery embolization setup vs varicocele embolization setups).
Discuss case-specific embolization equipment with the IR to be opened for each case including catheters wires and embolics.
Maintain a clean and safe environment: replace bedding sanitize equipment and surfaces and inspect the floor for blood or fluid residue.
Intraprocedural
Prep and position the patient appropriately.
1st assist the IR in sterile procedures.
Clean the access area and apply a sterile dressing.
Post-procedure
Assist in transporting the patient onto the gurney.
Dispose of trash and turn the procedure room over.
Send images over to the PACS system.
Product and Inventory Management
Manage inventory and check expiration dates weekly.
Maintain an organized vendor reference list with representative contact information account numbers and phone numbers for streamlined ordering.
Order the products and communicate with Lead MA or RNs to assist as needed.
Other Responsibilities
Maintain the book for the C-arm.
Serve as the RSO once able.
Coordinate with the physicist to schedule a yearly meeting between the RSO the physicist and a third person.
Schedule a yearly check with the C-arm manufacturer.
Communicate any malfunction with the C-arm table and the PACS system with the appropriate party.
Cross-train MAs to 1st assist when taking vacation or sick leave.
Manage the radiation dose monitoring system and discuss with the staff during each badge change. This needs to be discussed during each yearly meeting.
Check lead gowns for breaks once each year.
Maintain LMRT/RT license.
