Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide comprehensive patient care within our state hospital this vital role you will be responsible for the daily nursing care of patients administration of treatments and collaboration with a multidisciplinary clinical team. The ideal candidate will be highly organized adept at crisis intervention and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and infection control in a dynamic clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize organize and assign daily patient care activities in collaboration with clinical staff.
- Develop implement and document individualized nursing care plans for acute medical conditions.
- Conduct ongoing physical and psychosocial patient assessments from admission through discharge.
- Administer medications and treatments in strict accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Supervise direct and support clinical staff to coordinate unit workflow and ensure quality care.
- Respond to and intervene in emergency situations and behavioral health crises.
- Educate patients and family members on medications procedures and treatment plans.
- Ensure unit compliance with all safety infection control and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and maintain vaccine/lab refrigerator and freezer temperatures taking corrective action as needed.
- Assist providers with patient examinations and perform routine clinical procedures (e.g. EKGs TB tests).
- Coordinate and schedule daily medical dental and podiatry clinics.
- Manage medical supplies clean equipment and remove expired medications.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and contemporaneously including nursing notes and clinical observation reports.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: 1 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited college.
- Licensure & Certification: Current unrestricted LPN license to practice in the State of Indiana. Must hold and maintain CPR certification and current behavioral intervention training.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook Word Excel) and demonstrated ability to learn specialized clinical software including but not limited to: Cerner Rev Cycle UKG Dexis and Quest.
- Core Competencies: Strong patient advocacy effective verbal/written communication and a thorough understanding of medical terminology and nursing protocols.
- Physical & Schedule Requirements: Ability to perform essential physical functions including lifting/transporting over 50 lbs and responding to emergencies. Must be available to work rotating shifts weekends holidays and be on-call as required.
