Our client in the construction industry with operations in Nairobi and several counties in the country is looking to recruit A Procurement Manager based in Nairobi servicing the various sites out of Nairobi
Overview of the role
The role is responsible for strategizing to find cost-effective deals and suppliers and to discover the best ways to cut procurement expenses so that the company can invest in growth and people and also provision of administrative support services to the organization to maximize on service delivery and support the efforts towards the achievement of corporate goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Productive and beneficial sourcing strategies to ensure we buy at the best price and at maximum credit terms.
- Site material requests and purchase.
- Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships by maintaining client-supplier relationship.
- Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms.
- Receives stocks and fills in bin cards.
- Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company.
- Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients.
- Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
- Ensure timeliness in ordering and delivery of required materials goods and services.
- In charge of ensuring site and site store organization.
- Maintain proper records and reconciling Invoices for purchased materials for posting by finance for payments and credit suppliers.
Qualifications :
Required Qualifications Experience & Competences.
- Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management or Purchase and supplies or Business Management.
- Proficiency in Procurement.
- Minimum 3-year experience in a similar position.
- Problem solving skills.
- Planning analytical and organization skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with suppliers and clients at all levels and establish & maintain relationships.
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Self-driven result oriented with good managerial skills
- Expert knowledge of building products Contractors details and relevant rules regulations and quality standards.
- High energy enthusiasm and excellent judgement; a strong sense of urgency to meet deadlines and bias for action.
- Ability to follow policies and regulations.
- Accountability for company assets; brand values; customer care.
- International procurement in the construction industry is an added advantage.
