Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026 Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service Peninsula Health Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health a newly merged health service with more than 22000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce providing new training education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026 all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

• Full Time Fixed Term until 30 October 2026
• Grade 6 Administrator Circa up to $150K (Health and Allied Services Managers and Administrative Workers)
• Working across Monash Health Alfred Health and from early 2026 Western Health.

About the Department

As part of the Department of Healths initiative to return public pathology to public hospitals and ensure consistent accessible care for all Victorians Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service.

Pathology services are provided from two main laboratoriesThe Alfred in Prahran and Monash Medical Centre in Claytonand six branch laboratories located at Casey Hospital Dandenong Hospital Moorabbin Hospital Sandringham Hospital Wonthaggi Hospital and Victorian Heart addition there are 23 collection centres and rooms spread across South East Melbourne and South Gippsland with the furthest one located in Yarram. The service is currently planning an expansion across Western Health.

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Communications Manager to lead strategic communication and engagement across our evolving pathology network. This is a unique opportunity to shape the voice and identity of a transformative health initiative.

This is a unique role where you will provide strategic direction and guidance along with technical can-do and implementation abilities.

You will work closely with executive leaders and communications teams across Alfred Health and Monash Health to deliver impactful strategy to support major reform.

This role will report into the Head of Communication and Engagement at Alfred Health and Transformation Lead Shared Pathology Service. There are no direct reports to this role though there are reporting lines through influence and project overlaps.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic communications supporting reform service expansion and system upgrades.
• Lead brand rollout and identity embedding across the network.
• Develop a system for effective community/ customer/ clinician communication across a variety of channels.
• Create and manage digital content intranet updates bulletins and social media.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships to support and influence communication goals
• Develop a supportive network across the major health services involved to bring them along the pathology reform journey.

About You

You are a skilled communicator with:

• A degree in journalism public relations marketing or a related field.
• Proven experience (5 years) in corporate communications and brand strategy.
• Strong writing editing and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in digital tools including content management systems Microsoft Office; eDM systems.
• Experience in health or large complex environments is highly desirable.
