Develops strategies researches and designs algorithms after analysing an assigned portfolio/market. Develops algorithms to build models that uncover connections and make better decisions without human intervention. Communicates strategies with other developers to help code the strategies including evaluating algorithms and altering them as needed. Works closely with quantitative developers technologists as well as trading desks to build out a multi-strategy algorithmic trading framework.

• Works with dev leads of FX Fixed Income and Commodities to:
  • Drive resilient and performant architecture to meet all project needs
  • Ensure high quality work and testing
  • Maintain high team productivity
  • Maintain a stable production environment
  • Grow teams skills and capabilities
  • Foster a disciplined and enjoyable work culture

• Works with product leads to:
  • Establish project sprint estimations
  • Establish project roadmaps
  • Establish sprint prioritization
  • Drive solutions for the business to grow revenue or reduce expenses

• Works with operations (Infrastructure Support) to:
  • Ensure a stable production environment
  • Ensure a stable qa environment
  • Ensure a stable dev environment
  • Ensure development work is not blocked by operations work

Qualifications:

Advanced level of proficiency:

Expert level of proficiency:

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• 15 years of professional FICC development experience
• 10 years of managing a development team
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; eager to ask questions; able to clearly explain ideas
• Strong collaborative and team skills
• Strong unit testing skills
• Strong multi-threaded programming skills
• Strong understanding of financial markets and electronic trading systems
• Experience with optimizing software performance and reducing latency

The above represents BMO Financial Groups pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location skills experience education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groups expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Groups total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives discretionary bonuses as well as other perks and rewards.
