Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Canteen Assistant to join our team in Stockton-on-Tees United Kingdom. As a Canteen Assistant you will play a crucial role in providing excellent food service and maintaining a clean welcoming environment for our customers.
- Assist in food preparation including basic cooking tasks and assembling meals
- Serve food and beverages to customers in a prompt and courteous manner
- Operate the till and handle cash transactions accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining areas
- Restock food items condiments and utensils as needed
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during peak hours
- Respond to customer enquiries and address any concerns in a friendly manner
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Assist with setting up and clearing dining areas before and after service
Qualifications :
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and supportive attitude
- Knowledge of food handling and safety practices
- Basic cooking skills and ability to learn new food preparation techniques
- Proficiency in cash handling and operating a till
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
- Previous experience in food service or catering is preferred
- Food hygiene certificate is desirable
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays as required
