SUMMARY:
The Sterile Processing Technician Clinical Coordinator is directly responsible and accountable for the planning coordination and supervision of clinical education for students enrolled in the Sterile Processing Technician program. This individual will ensure clinical experiences meet programmatic and accreditation requirements while supporting student success and competency development in real-world healthcare settings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develop maintain and evaluate clinical partnerships with hospitals surgical centers dental offices and other healthcare facilities.
Coordinate schedule and notify students of student clinical placements in alignment with course objectives and student needs.
Monitor and assess student performance during clinical rotations through site visits evaluations and communication with site managers and/or preceptors.
Serve as the primary liaison between clinical sites students and Dorsey College.
Orient students to clinical expectations requirements and assessment tools.
Maintain accurate documentation for clinical hours evaluations student competencies and site agreements.
Participate in faculty meetings and program advisory boards.
Schedules make-up clinical rotations as necessary.
Teaches SPT Capstone course.
**Other related tasks as assigned and deemed necessary.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES:
Must be student-focused individual with a passion for education.
Must display exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as active listening; ability to communicate well with staff and students.
Ability to work well with campus leaders to ensure symmetry of operations.
Must be resourceful and able to problem solve; strong initiative and solid judgment required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical coordination healthcare education or clinical site management.
Certification in healthcare education coordination or related field (e.g. Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Clinical Educator credentials or similar).
Familiarity with sterile processing surgical services infection control or other allied health environments.
Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple clinical partnerships and student placements.
Excellent communication interpersonal and problem-solving abilities for working with students faculty and clinical site personnel.
Proficient in using clinical tracking systems student information systems and standard office software (e.g. Microsoft Office Canvas LMS).
WORKING / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel to local campuses and clinical facilities.
The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods of time; and have sufficient hand arm and finger dexterity to operate a phone computer keyboard and other office equipment.
Evening or weekend hours if necessary to meet deadlines.
