Job Summary

The Technical and Professional Communication Coordinator plays a strategic role in advancing the visibility and impact of the Center for Integrated Professional Development (CIPD) across Illinois State University. This position is responsible for developing and executing multi-channel brand-consistent communications for that promote teaching and learning initiatives to diverse audiences including faculty staff administrators and campus partners.

Working collaboratively across Academic Affairs units such as the Office of the Provost and other mission-aligned departments this individual crafts compelling narratives and engaging content that elevate awareness and foster meaningful engagement with CIPD programming and resources. The coordinator ensures that all communications reflect the Universitys editorial and visual standards and contributes to the planning and implementation of integrated marketing strategies.

This position serves as a key connector between CIPD and the broader University community helping to ensure that communication is not only informative but also reflective of the Universitys commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

$51776 - $52516 annual

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelors or equivalent degree in Communication English Journalism Marketing or closely related field
  2. At least twelve months of professional experience producing communications across multiple media platforms (i.e. web social media print)
  3. Exceptional writing editing and proofreading skills with attention to clarity tone and detail
  4. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in professional settings manage multiple projects and communicate with diverse stakeholders
  5. Familiar with brand standards and editorial style guides
  6. Experience developing and executing content strategies for digital platforms including social media planning posting and monitoring

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Masters degree in English Communication English Journalism Marketing or a closely related field.
  2. Experience working across traditional digital and social platforms with familiarity in tools such as WordPress and Google Analytics.
  3. Experience working with college-level faculty and/or students in professional or mentoring relationships
  4. Experience developing or editing online or print publications.
  5. Strong interest in cross-campus initiatives and emerging technologies for communication and instructional purposes.
  6. Proven ability to work independently manage projects and contribute to long-term strategic initiatives.

Work Hours

Core Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday. Position occasionally requires work beyond regular office hours.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
