Our core mission is to enhance foundational learning outcomes for children in the early years with a major emphasis on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). We partner with government bodies schools and communities to drive evidence-based interventions and influence sustainable policy change.
Role Overview:
The Senior Manager for Advocacy & Policy is a high-impact strategic anchor responsible for driving the organizations influence within the national education policy landscape. This role is crucial for transforming our evidence into actionable policy and mobilizing collective action across the FLN ecosystem.
The successful candidate will lead a dedicated advocacy unit driving both focused short-term campaigns and long-term initiatives to strengthen the implementation and scale of foundational learning reforms across India.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Policy & Strategy Leadership
- Develop high-leverage policy outputs including concept notes policy briefs and position papers that clearly outline key FLN issues effective interventions and desired policy shifts.
- Work collaboratively with key steering committees and partners to identify and prioritize critical advocacy goals within the FLN domain.
2. Government Relations & Stakeholder Influence
- Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with senior officials in the Ministry of Education Ministry of Women and Child Development and State Education Departments to directly influence national policy and program guidelines.
- Serve as a trusted voice to ensure our foundational learning insights are integrated into high-level policy frameworks.
3. Evidence Mobilization & Communication
- Gather analyze and synthesize complex program and policy information to build robust evidence-based advocacy strategies.
- Lead public engagement by publishing articles in traditional and digital media and leveraging social platforms to raise awareness and mobilize broad public support for FLN.
- Manage communication flows to effectively update alert and activate our network of partners ensuring continuous mobilization around advocacy priorities.
4. Network Building and Collective Action
- Strengthen and expand partnerships with national networks government bodies and other key stakeholders.
- Facilitate alignment and joint action across the ecosystem to maximize the scale and sustainability of FLN impact.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Postgraduate degree (Masters or higher) in Public Policy Education International Development or a closely related field.
- 812 years of demonstrable experience in policy advocacy strategic communications or government relations ideally within the Indian education or development sector.
- Proven ability to engage and maintain strong networks with senior government stakeholders.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully producing and disseminating influential advocacy outputs (e.g. policy briefs media articles).
- Strong analytical writing and communication skills in English are mandatory (proficiency in additional Indian languages is a significant advantage).
- Ability to guide and coordinate collective action while working independently.
