Job Description
The Department of Philosophy at the University of South Florida Tampa invites applications for a 9-month full-time and tenure-earning position in Philosophy at the Assistant Professor rank. The appointment start date is August 7 2026. Salary is negotiable.
Applicants must have a PhD in Philosophy or cognate field by the start date. AOS: Continental Philosophy. AOC: open.
The PhD program in Philosophy at USF has a major emphasis in the History of Philosophy. Particular needs include Heidegger twentieth-century phenomenology and poststructuralism social-political and non-Western/Asian.
Preference will be given to applicants who have at least one year of teaching experience in the listed area of specialization with records of strong research combined with outstanding continued research potential and demonstrated excellence in teaching philosophy and to those with potential to contribute to USFs strategic plan.

Responsibilities
Normal teaching load is 2/2; 9-month appointment with the expectation of active engagement with and supervision of PhD students.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Philosophy or cognate field. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who have at least one year of teaching experience in the listed area of specialization with records of strong research combined with outstanding continued research potential and demonstrated excellence in teaching philosophy and to those with potential to contribute to USFs strategic plan.
