Job Summary: Melt Utility Technician Superior Forge & Steel Corporation is currently hiring a Melt Utility Technician for our operation. The Melt Utility Technician a member of our Melt Department responsible for the daily preparation and operation of melting equipment and operations. Competitive wages starting at $22.20. with .50 pr hr increases every 6 months until the established top rate of pay is achieved. Additional Paid Relief Days$1000 SIGN ON BONUS(Paid in increments throughout the first year of continued employment) and this position is eligible for Production Incentive Program.
Duties/Responsibilities: - Assists in preheat melting tapping de-gas charging scrap lime and alloyws slagging off taking heat temperatures taking chemistry samples making additons and pouring operation.
- Assist with daily preparation of E-3 furnace by cleaning and changing out electrodes.
- Cleans and inspects plates molds pouring pits and ladles
- Assisting with the constructing and setting up bottom pour plates stools stools molds and hot tops.
- Assisting with daily preparation of ladles; inspection of Argon lines and plugs clean and inspect slide gate insert correct size nozzle plates etc.
- Assisting with the Degas preparation and operation; ensuring all functions of Degas are pre-checked prior to the start of operation.
- Assisting with weighing alloys for heat/verify weights as required.
- Monitoring supply inventories.
- Assisting with overhead crane activities i.e. hooking and unhooking sling chains for operators etc.
- Reporting all deviations from product specifications.
- Performs other department duties as assigned>
Required Skills/Abilities: - Ability to work in Team Environment.
- Proficient math skills (addition subtraction multiplication etc.)
- Must be able to read tape measure.
- Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate unforeseen/emergency circumstances.
- Proficiency in accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
Education/Experiences: - High School Diploma or GED required.
- Construction background of 1-5 year preferred.
- Previous OSHA certifications preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Overhead cab crane experience preferred.
- Previous foundry experience preferred.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions - Must be capable of lifting up to 80 lbs regularly
- Ability to work at heights and confined areas.
- Exposed to heat from furnace and hot metal
- Exposed to seasonal temperature changes
- Manufacturing environment with noise dust and vibration
