Reporting to the Resident Program Supervisor the Resident Engagement Program Coordinator will support housing initiatives and programs. The Resident Engagement Program Coordinator will develop housing programs and ensure the physical emotional social and spiritual safety of residents. Resident Engagement Workers on-site work collaboratively with the Resident Engagement Team Property Management Street Level team and other agency internal departments; and encourage resident independence community engagement and housing stability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support and assistance to Resident Engagement team and Front Desk staff of the 1010 Centre
- Support clients with Resident Care Plans
- Develop and implement internal resident programming work with other agencies to develop programming and group activities such as life skills that include but is not limited to culinary hygiene financial management boundaries and social community supports and planning for seasonal events
- Ensure that the development and implementation of service plans are consistent with program goals and of maximum benefit to residents and help Resident Engagement workers to assist residents with developing life skills such as cooking cleaning good hygiene and other skills
- Support a working relationship between the residents Resident Engagement Team Property Management and other internal departments or external community supports as needed
- Knowledge of pertinent policies standards and procedures and adhere to same. Takes immediate action to correct non-compliance including safety protocols such as fire alarms and situations requiring emergency response; and completes and submits appropriate reports
- Support a dedicated team by providing clear and consistent support and promoting the teams success through orientation mentoring and guidance and performance management
- Oversee practicum student and summer internship placements in the Resident Program
- Develop and encourage residents in community engagement initiatives
- Advocate for needed services and assist residents in meeting the obligations of residency
- Maintain a minimum caseload of residents
- Abide by all Health & Safety protocols including completing a report for all incidents that occur including near misses in a timely mannerOther duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Degree/Diploma in Human Services field or in the process of attaining same or related work experience
- Understanding of homelessness and desire to work with marginalized individuals
- A passion for developing community and to be part of ending homelessness in Alberta
- Volunteer management experience considered an asset
- Program development experience is an asset
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a collaborative team environment
- Strong administrative and computer skills
- Conflict resolution skills and ability to manage staff performance and crisis situations
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This is a full-time position requiring some amount of schedule flexibility
- Fast-paced and demanding work environment
- Moderate physical effort: walking climbing standing sitting lifting carrying
- Employees are to be aware that many of our clients may experience difficulties or impairment at times which could result in them uttering threats discriminatory statements and other insults at your person. This may be in a raised voice or in seeing unpredictable behaviour up to and including the possibility of them becoming aggressive.
- Training on how to respond is provided but this is to be considered typical working conditions. Many of our clients are unaware of the impact of these comments
