Job Description

Job Title: DB2 Migration Specialist

Project Scope & Objectives:
Join our team to lead a strategic migration of a sharded DB2 database (currently split across two physical servers) into a virtualized environment. The goal is to consolidate the infrastructure into a single virtual machine without compromising performance simplifying management and preparing for future hardware upgrades.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess current DB2 sharded architecture and design a migration plan to a single-instance virtualized environment.
  • Evaluate and implement IBM DB2 Bridge or equivalent tools for database consolidation.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure optimal virtual environment setup.
  • Conduct performance benchmarking and validation post-migration.
  • Document migration steps configurations and performance metrics.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with DB2 database administration and migration.
  • Strong understanding of DB2 Standard and Advanced Editions.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (VMware Hyper-V etc.).
  • Familiarity with IBM DB2 Bridge or similar migration tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
