About the Role

The Recovery on Campus (ROC) Coordinator reporting to the Manager of the Healthy Campus Team plays a key role in advancing substance use recovery initiatives and fostering a vibrant inclusive and sustainable recovery community on campus. This position focuses on increasing visibility reducing stigma and supporting students in or seeking recovery from substance use and other addictions through targeted programs peer engagement collaborative campus partnerships and provincial initiatives.
Working both independently and in collaboration with campus and community stakeholders the Coordinator is responsible for implementing a comprehensive Recovery Program engaging students staff and faculty and supporting program evaluation and grant reporting efforts.

This is a full-time conditionally funded term position working 35 hours per week over 12 months.

Responsibilities

Program Coordination & Development

  • Develop and implement a tailored Recovery on Campus (ROC) framework for the institution
  • Coordinate weekly recovery meetings and other student-centered events
  • Lead or support recovery awareness campaigns and campus wellness initiatives
  • Plan and execute workshops speaker sessions and outreach activities in collaboration with students and community partners

Peer Support & Supervision

  • Recruit and train Peer Supporters or Peer Recovery Advocates
  • Provide ongoing supervision mentorship and skill development opportunities
  • Recognize and celebrate peer contributions while supporting their professional growth

Community Engagement & Campus Collaboration

  • Build and sustain partnerships with external recovery organizations and internal campus services
  • Establish and support a ROC Steering Committee with diverse representation

Program Evaluation & Reporting

  • Contribute to the national SUPR (Supporting Postsecondary Students in Recovery) study
  • Administer the ROC Evaluation Kit
  • Monitor track and report on program metrics and outcomes

Promotion & Communication

  • Design and distribute recovery-friendly materials and digital content
  • Promote ROC events and supports through multiple communication channels

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma in Addictions Studies or equivalent two-year postsecondary credential
  • At least one year of experience in program development health promotion or student support services
  • Knowledge of substance use harm reduction prevention and recovery supports in post-secondary settings
  • Strong project management organizational and communication skills

Preferred Assets

  • Bachelors degree in Social Work Psychology Public Health Education or a related field
  • Lived experience of addiction recovery or supporting individuals in recovery
  • Experience supervising students volunteers or peer leaders

Salary: $49774 - 63004 per annum
