The salary for this position is: $4902.00 - $6521.00 monthly

Thurston County Treasurers Officeis seeking a professional motivated and dependable candidate for the position of Revenue Officer to join our team. The Revenue Officer is responsible for independently conducting the collection processes for real property tax foreclosure and personal property distraint action including researching contacting and interviewing delinquent taxpayers or their representatives issuing and serving distraint notices and warrants and preparing legal documentation for tax foreclosure. This is an exciting opportunity for those with collection administrative and customer services experience seeking to begin their career in Treasurers Office work in a great environment and receive excellent benefits.

Essential functions may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conducts legal research and compiles information related to the collection of real and personal property taxes that is subject to distraint or legal action often requiring coordination with the Prosecuting Attorneys property owners of due dates for payment to avoid foreclosure or distraint costs.
  • Contacts delinquent taxpayers in the field by phone and/or through correspondence to effect necessary utilizes skip-tracing methods to locate delinquent follow-up letters personally contacts owners not responding and discusses reasons for tax delinquency.
  • Conducts interviews with taxpayers and/or their attorneys accountants or agents to determine methods of liquidating tax in resolving payment of taxes issues.
  • Issues and serves Warrant of legal requirements as to notice and assessment or identity of goods are legal documentation with Prosecuting Attorney and prepares legal notification to taxpayer.
  • Prepares request for bids for title proposals and awards title work to successful bidder.
  • Manages the bankruptcy process to include preparing documentation on the claims maintaining records and representing the Treasurer at court and at creditor meetings.
  • Performs financial analysis and information and develops statistical records for the collection process.
  • Maintains records of personal property tax collections and prepares an annual list of delinquent taxes to present to the County Commissioners as required by law.
  • Coordinates collection issues with other County departments as well as outside agencies including other treasurers offices lien holders and taxing and governmental authorities as necessary.
  • Develops the budget including cost estimates and revenue charges for the Treasurers M&O budget on a regular basis and provides budget recommendations to the Treasurer.
  • Prepares and oversees the annual auction of unpaid property tax foreclosure.
