Position Description:
Xcel Energy is seeking a Data Analytics Intern to join our Mass Market Product Management team. This team develops and delivers innovative programs that help residential customers make informed energy choices. We manage a broad portfolio of initiatives including renewable energy energy efficiency electrification and the digital platforms that support these efforts.
Typical intern responsibilities mayinclude but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with data analytics and data science teams to extract process and analyze large volumes of operational and customer data
- Utilize tools such as Power BI and Excel and platforms including Salesforce and Databricks to identify trends and generate actionable insights
- Support business decision-making through data visualization performance optimization and regulatory reporting
- Shadow experienced analysts to learn best practices in data management and analysis
- Progress to independent project work including dashboard development and metric reporting for leadership
This position is for a June 1st 2026 start. These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internships initial term based on the candidates successful performance and Xcels business needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Current student Junior or Senior status (as of Fall 2026)
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Data Analytics Statistics Computer Science Business or a related field.
- Able to commute to the corporate office in Denver CO or Minneapolis MN.
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the spring (up to 20 hours a week).
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g. Excel Power BI) and platforms (e.g. Salesforce Databricks)
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
- Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework including classes in Intermediate Accounting Auditing and/or Tax
- Experience or Proficiency with data analytics tools.
